3 Ways I Use ChatGPT To Write Better (Without Copy-Pasting And Sounding Robotic)

There is nothing wrong with using ChatGPT as a writer.

But most people don’t know how to use it the right way.

They simply copy-paste everything and hope to gain followers and make money.

That’s not how it works.

You need to learn to write on your own before using ChatGPT to write.

Because think about it…

A guy who knows how to code can use ChatGPT better than a guy who doesn’t know how to code.

Because he

  • knows what to ask,
  • can give specific prompts,
  • understands the code that ChatGPT gives, and
  • can tweak it until he gets exactly what he needs.

It’s the same for writers.

I have published almost 350+ articles on my own. No ChatGPT. Not even a little bit.

Through my writing experience, I learned how to come up with high-performing ideas, how to structure my articles, how to write the first draft, and how to edit (all by myself).

So I know exactly how to use ChatGPT the right way — as a writing assistant.

Today, I’m gonna share with you 3 ways I use ChatGPT to write better without copy-pasting and sounding robotic.

Let go!!!

1) To convey an idea clearly

English is my second language. Sometimes I struggle to express the ideas in my head clearly.

When that happens, I write the idea like I can (roughly) and feed it to ChatGPT with a prompt like:

“Hey, I have an idea I want to convey, but I’m not sure how to word it. Here’s my rough version: [insert your idea here]. Can you give me 5 better ways to say it?”

When I give this prompt, ChatGPT will spit out 5 different versions to convey that idea. I’ll pick and choose the one that best conveys what I had in mind.

The important thing you need to note here is:

The idea is mine. ChatGPT is just helping me to word it better.

This also proves one more thing:

You don’t have to be an English professional or a writing professional to write online.

You only need better ideas.

Simple.

2) To find analogies, stats, studies, and quotes

If you want your content to perform well.

You need to sprinkle some analogies, stats, studies, and quotes throughout your writing.

It’s like sprinkling chocolate chips on a cookie. (You see what I did there😉)

Adding them not only makes your content more interesting and engaging it also strengthens your ideas.

For example:

If you say,

“Stop focusing on your goals, and start focusing on the process that gets you towards your goals.”

People will be like, “Who are you to say that?”

But if you say,

“In Atomic Habits, James Clear says: ‘Goals are about the results you want to achieve. Systems are about the processes that lead to those results.’

So, stop focusing on your goals and start focusing on the process that gets you towards your goals.”

People will take the latter seriously because James Clear is a well-known author, and people trust his ideas.

So, when you include a quote like this, it adds credibility to the idea you want to drive home.

I used quotes as an example here. It can be an analogy, your personal story, or someone else’s story, an excerpt from a research article, a scientific study, or statistics and graphs.

Coming up with all these on top of your head is not easy.

That’s where you can make use of ChatGPT.

Here is a live example:

ChatGPT response:

I can go even further and ask,

“Hey, just extract some experts from those articles that I can include in my writing to strengthen that idea.”

You get the point.

3) To correct grammar and typos

Yes, I know there is Grammarly.

But I think using ChatGPT is better.

Because…

  • One, in Grammarly, you need to correct each sentence one by one — it’s time-consuming.
  • Two, Grammarly hates words like “actually”, “really”, “just”, and “only” for no reason.
  • Three, Grammarly is so disturbing nowadays.

Here is what I do:

First, I write the first draft. No editing. Just getting everything out of my system.

Then, I arrange my ideas in proper order.

Then, I do some editing by myself.

Finally, I’ll feed the entire article to ChatGPT and write a small prompt in the end saying:

“Don’t change ANYTHING, just correct the grammar and typos.”

Once ChatGPT gives me the output. I’ll read through it and make a few changes if necessary, and publish it.

This is how I use ChatGPT.

And I think this is the right way to use it.

I hope you got some value out of this article.
