The Real Reason You Struggle To Stay Consistent

You know what you need to be doing every day.

You even do them.

But the problem is, you don’t do them consistently.

You decide to hit the gym every day. You hit the gym for 3 days and then you stop.

You decide to write every day. You write for a week and then you stop.

You decide to stop eating junk food. You resist junk food for a few days and then you give in to the temptation.

And this is not a one-time thing. This is a cycle.

You decide → You do it for a few days → You stop → You regret → You repeat.

Most people keep on going through this cycle year after year without making any progress.

If you repeat the same set of actions every year, your life is gonna stay the same every year (or may get worse).

If you want to change yourself and your life, you need to break the cycle.

Once you get started with doing something that you know is good for you, don’t stop. Don’t fall back to your old routine.

Yes, it’s not going to be easy.

You need to fight the distractions.

You need to ignore your emotions.

You need to sacrifice comfort and “fun.”

You need to control your monkey mind.

You need to face your weakness, self-doubts, and insecurities.

And you need to do all these every single day.

It’s going to be extremely difficult for a period of time.

Because you’re not just trying to be consistent here. You’re completely rewiring your brain. You’re changing your identity.

You can’t hit the gym consistently, because your brain doesn’t identify you as someone who is disciplined and goes to the gym every day.

You can’t write every day, because your brain doesn’t identify you as someone who is creative and writes every day.

You can’t stop eating junk food, because your brain doesn’t identify you as someone who is health conscious and eats healthy.

How to change this? How can you make your brain identify you as someone who is disciplined, creative, and health conscious?

Through repetition.

You can rewire your brain with your actions. Your brain updates its “identity book” by seeing your every day actions.

If you hit the gym EVERY SINGLE DAY for 6 months, your brain will erase the identity “Lazy dude who watches Netflix after work” from the “identity book” and updates it with “Disciplined bro who hits the gym every day after work.”

Once the identity is updated, you no longer need motivation to hit the gym. It just becomes a part of your life. It becomes like breathing. You just do it.

Being consistent is the key to identity change. Identity change is the key to life change.

Hope it was helpful.

See you again.

P.S. Take it as a challenge. Pick something and stick to doing it for 6 months. Do it at the same time and place every single day.
