I usually don’t watch YouTube. But today, I opened YouTube to check out some other video but in my recommended section I stumbled upon a video titled, “AI Disruption Kills a Million Jobs In The US”.
I immediately clicked on it and watched. Even though I’m someone who hates watching the news.
In the intro, I saw hundreds and thousands of employees gathered outside their office building holding boards with words saying, “Google layoffs: Hostile, unnecessary, brutal, unfair”, “Being evil is not a strategy”, “Google Don’t be evil.”, etc.
AI is gonna take away every job. There is no doubt about that. You, me, and everyone are gonna lose our job someday.
There is no use in holding boards with words outside your office building. It’s not gonna change anything. Instead we need to do something else. Something to future-proof ourselves from this disruption.
In this article, I’m gonna share with you what I’m doing to future-proof myself so that you can also do the same or at least get an idea of what you should be doing.
Let me begin.
First, I’m improving myself in every aspect possible.
I hit the gym every single day.
I meditate every day.
I read every day.
I write every day.
I learn high-value AI skills every day.
The world is improving at a rapid pace. If you don’t wanna get left behind, you need to improve yourself along with it.
You don’t have time to scroll on social media. You don’t have time to watch movies. You don’t have time to hang out with your friends.
You need to start learning skills to future-proof yourself so that when you lose your job, you don’t have to worry.
Most people who still haven’t lost their jobs are in the hope that they’ll never lose their job. If you’re one of them, I’m sorry to tell you this—you’re gonna lose your job (so am I). Maybe today, tomorrow, 3 months from now, or 1 year from now. But it sure gonna happen.
The best thing you can do now is…use your 5-9s and weekends. That’s what I’m doing.
My job takes away a lot of my time. I do everything—learning skills, writing, reading, etc.—in the early morning (I wake up at 4 AM) and in the late evening (between 6 to 10). And on weekends, I use every bit of time I have. Don’t plan trips during weekends, instead lock-in and do something. Every minute of your time is precious.
You need to build a safety net as soon as possible. So that when you lose your job, you don’t fall on the ground and die.
Now, let’s get practical. Let me tell you what I’m doing every day to future-proof myself.
I’m creating content every day.
I’m learning AI—I’m on a journey to become an AI Generalist who can learn, create, build, and automate anything using AI.
These are the two things I’m doing.
I think everyone should start creating content.
Because that’s how everyone in the future will be making money.
You create content on the things you’re interested in, on things you’re good at, on things you’re passionate about. And you grow an audience for yourself.
You get paid by the platform you’re creating content in. For example, if you create videos on YouTube, YouTube will pay you. If you write on Medium, Medium will pay you. If you write on X, X will pay you.
That’s just one stream of revenue.
You can also create useful digital products like eBooks, courses, templates, guides, etc. and sell it to your audience. You provide value for your audience and you get paid. Win-win.
This is one way.
If you’re good at a skill, you can offer that skill as a service and land clients by creating content. If you’re good at building websites, you can make videos teaching people how to build websites on YouTube and give a book a call link or your email address in the description so that business owners who want to build a website for their business can reach out to you.
You get money, the business owner gets the website. Win-win.
This is how everyone will be making money in a few years from now.
In fact, some people are already making money this way. They are already living in the future.
The sooner you start, the better.
The second thing I’m doing is learning AI.
I want to become an AI Generalist who can learn, create, build, and automate anything using AI.
Just think about it. I can literally learn and understand any topic with the help of AI.
For example, I don’t know what quantum computing means. But I can open ChatGPT and write a prompt like, “Tell me what is quantum computing. Explain it in an easy-to-understand manner with examples and analogies.”
I read the ChatGPT output, ask more questions, read again, ask some more questions, read again, and just repeat this process until I understand what quantum computing means. I can literally understand anything with the help of AI.
I create my Medium cover using AI. Looks great, right? I edit my writing using AI.
I’m learning how to build websites using Cursor (An AI code editor).
I’m learning how to build AI Agents.
Because these are the new skills that are in high demand right now. Learning python, java, and other programming languages is simply a waste of time.
Instead learn how to write prompts. Learn to write prompts that give exactly what you’re looking for.
Yep!
This is what I’m doing.
Now, here is the best part:
I’m gonna share every single thing that I’m learning, doing, and discovering with you.
If you want to future-proof yourself along with me.
Join The Generalist (if you still haven’t).
I’ll be writing about self-improvement, breaking addictions, skill acquisition, and AI. And I’ll also share AI prompts and conduct challenges. Challenges like (30 Day Writing Challenge, 30 Day No Instagram Challenge, 30 Day of Learning Prompt Engineering Challenge, etc.)
Hope it was helpful.
See you again.
