Your social media addiction is lowering the quality of your life.
Constant comparison. “Everyone is happy, my life sucks.”
Shrinking attention span. It’s hard for you to focus on tasks for an extended period of time.
Deep-fried dopamine receptors. You lost the ability to find pleasure in simple stuff.
You can’t eat without watching a YouTube video.
You can’t stand in a queue without scrolling on Instagram.
Some people can’t even poop without phone in their hands.
I was once addicted too. But 2 years ago, I realized, the reason my life sucks is because of my social media addiction.
To improve the quality of my life, all I have to do is…get rid of social media.
And I did.
After that, my life was never the same.
Now, doing simple stuff is fun and pleasurable.
Reading a book is fun.
Going for a walk is fun.
Talking with people is fun.
Sitting with my own thoughts is fun.
Simply observing people walking on the street is fun.
Going to the terrace in the evening and watching the sunset is fun.
My dopamine receptors have become so sensitive. Sometimes I find myself smiling for no reason (No, I’m not crazy!).
Not just that, my attention span is freaking awesome.
I can sit and write for hours.
Sit and read for hours.
Yesterday, I was reading the book, “The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A Fuck” for 2 hours straight with full focus.
My threshold for boredom is also awesome.
I have noticed so many people. They can’t stand in a queue, wait for someone, and sit in a reception without using their phone.
But I can. I can simply sit there doing nothing and not be bored even the slightest. (It really feels like a superpower to be honest. Because not many people can do this.)
The best part is…
Once I quit social media, I had plenty of time on my hands. I started using them to better myself.
I go to the gym every day.
Write every day.
Read every day.
Learn every day.
My mind is clear.
I am able to think clearly…crystal clearly.
When I was addicted to social media, my brain was always foggy and cluttered.
In fact, the reason most people don’t know what they want to do in life is that their brains are cluttered.
To know your purpose, you need to go inward and spend time with yourself.
A lot of time, actually.
All these benefits are awesome.
But this is the best one.
I started focusing on myself for the first time.
When I was distracted, I didn’t give much attention to my grooming, hygiene, clothing, relationships, and finances.
But once I removed the distractions, I started to pay attention to them.
I started to groom myself well. Upgrade my wardrobe. Have good conversations with my family and friends. And save some money every month.
The quality of my life is great now. I’m really grateful that I broke my social media addiction.
You can also experience all these benefits and completely change your life.
If you quit social media.
