If you stick to learning a skill for 6 months, you’ll become so good at that skill than 99% of people on earth.
Which means, you can now use that skill to make money by teaching it to other people or offering it as a service.
But sticking to learning a skill for 6 months is easier said than done.
I know you’ve tried it. You pick a skill and you promise yourself you’re gonna spend 1 hour every day learning the skill for 3 months or 6 months.
But after a few days or weeks, you stop. You quit. And sometimes you don’t stop learning with intention. You just slowly drift back to your old routine. The days keep passing by before you even realize you just stopped learning a skill you promised yourself you’ll learn.
Let me tell you something.
The reason you’re always distracted is because you’re not good at anything.
A few years back, I had no skills. I spent all my time watching YouTube videos and movies. Then after finishing school, I had some time before college started. In that time, I went to a typewriting class. I spent 1 hour every day learning typing.
In just 25 days, I got pretty good at typing. My average typing speed now is 80 WPM.

After acquiring the skill of typing, I noticed a change in me.
Usually, whenever I felt bored, I would grab my phone and watch YouTube videos, but this time, I opened a website called typing.com and started taking the typing tests. I loved to see how fast I could type. I would type for hours.
This proves that the reason I was wasting my time on YouTube was not because I was lazy but because I was not good at anything. Once I got good at typing, it became my new entertainment.
We just love doing things we are good at. This is why football players keep playing football even after they have billions in their bank. Business people keep working even though they already made it and don’t have to lift a finger their entire life. Musicians don’t have to force themselves to play the instrument, they just love playing more than scrolling on Instagram.
But getting good or mastering a skill is not going to be easy.
You’ve got to go through a difficult phase. That phase is boring, uncomfortable, and tedious.
When you start learning a skill, initially you’ll be motivated. But after a few days or weeks, you’ll enter a difficult phase.
Most people quit when they enter this phase. That’s why most people are average.
If you want to master a skill, you need to get through this phase.
This phase may last for 2–3 months.
Once you get through it, you’ll enter the next phase called accelerated learning.
During this phase — you make progress faster, everything you struggled with suddenly makes sense, and you no longer have to force yourself to learn. You’ll be excited to wake up every day and learn.
Don’t aim for mastery. Aim to reach the accelerated learning phase.
And when it feels difficult, remember yourself that you’re in the difficult phase and it will not last forever.
Hope it was helpful.
See you again.

P.S. In fact, my typing skill lead to me writing online. I just love typing.
